Celebrating International Women’s Day at Earth Rated

International Women’s Day is a global day for shouting out and celebrating women’s achievement, for accelerating women’s equality, and for raising awareness against bias.

Here at Earth Rated, we work every day to find new and creative ways to help the dogs in the shelter system, while also being there for the people who devote their time to making their lives better.

We’re a team that includes former shelter workers not to mention many rescued dogs, so we know first-hand just how much goes into giving dogs a second chance at life. According to studies, “women make up approximately 80% of the volunteers and workers in the animal protection movement.”

We’re always looking for ways to give back to the people who devote their time to helping dogs in the shelter system. Research shows that women are more likely to volunteer for organizations in the areas of social and health services, particularly unpaid care work beyond the household.

From supplying shelters, rescues and service animal organizations with product donations, to teaming up with our retailers participating in local fundraisers and adoption events, giving back is truly one of the best parts of our job.

“Before joining the Earth Rated team, I was a Director at the Montreal SPCA. I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by many dedicated women throughout my career who care deeply about animal welfare. Here at Earth Rated, we also have a lot of adopted dogs on our team, and from the very beginning, giving back has always been an important value. A huge amount of our customers are also involved in rescue-work, so we recognize that this is a cause close to their hearts as well.”

-Tara Garland, VP Global Experience

Supporting animal rescues and shelters is something we’re proud to make a part of everyday life at Earth Rated. To all the women keeping our shelter pups happy & healthy, thank you for all that you do. Happy International Women’s Day!
