What’s the deal with compostable poop bags?

At Earth Rated, our goal has always been to create high-quality, innovative products —to make poop pick-up a fuss-free experience.

Our green-coloured poop bags, now adorn millions of leashes across the globe. The rolls’ cores and packaging are made of recycled materials and excess material is recycled or reused for future production.

Our compostable poop bags are made from a blend of PBAT and vegetable starches and these unscented bags can be disposed of in a municipal compost environment where pet waste is accepted. These facilities are not widely available, so be sure to check locally if they exist near you! For more information on composting dog poop, check out our post about How and Where to Compost Dog Poop!

  • They meet the ASTM D6400 and EN13432 Standards for compostability
  • They are made from a blend of PBAT and vegetable starches
  • The are extra-thick and lock in odors
  • They’re compatible with our leash dispenser

While dog poop is not accepted at all compost facilities in the US and Canada, a number of communities are successfully composting their dog waste. Does your municipality accept animal waste? If not, consider writing to your local representative and help get the ball rolling.

When composting at home, be sure not to use the resulting soil on your food crops as it contains poop.
